I attended the spoken word poetry reading last Friday night at the Xocolatl Room and have to give it some snaps. The atmosphere was mellow and welcoming and the chocolate was very rich. Mike Guinn, who hosts the readings, has been doing a great job for the DFW literary scene getting poetry out into the community.

There's another reading tonight from 10 to midnight. The shop's technically on Howell, but it's right off McKinney.
