Dallas' own Fran Vick is the co-author, with Jane Clements Munday, of Petra's Legacy (Texas A&M University Press). Petra Vela Kenedy was the matriarch of one of Texas' most important ranching families, and this biography gives a fascinating picture of a strong women and of the history of South Texas from her perspective. If you're interested in ranching and South Texas and the whole King-Armstrong-Kenedy mythology, this is a must.
