Rod Dreher in Points sends this reminder: Did you participate in the Points Summer Book Club and its blog? Did you read either Erich Maria Remarque’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” or Paul Fussell’s “The Great War and Modern Memory” with the club? If so, or even if you’re curious about literature and war, you’re invited to join Dr. Larry Allums of the Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture on Thursday night for a town hall meeting about the books. The focus of the discussion will be about what reading these books has taught us about war and the human condition. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Dallas Institute, 2719 Routh Street, from 7 to 8:30 pm. E-mail Rod Dreher at rdreher@dallasnews.com for more information. |
