Bob Roberts Jr.'s book `The Multiplying Church' is published

Bob Roberts Jr., pastor of 2,500-member NorthWood Church near Fort Worth, has another book out. This one's called "The Multiplying Church: The New Math for Starting New Churches."

The publisher is Zondervan.

Because his desk and chair are going up for auction, and I am sure the auction house has expectations that are .... at least good.

That's not Chuck himself at the desk, it's Christie's worker Laura Castelbarco in the Associated Press photo. Christie's expects the set to go for $100,000 to $160,000.

Spur Awards

The Western Writers of America recently announced their annual Spur Awards.

Sandra Dallas's "Tallgrass" won for Best Western Short Novel.

Robert M. Utley's Lone Star Lawmen: The Second Century of the Texas Rangers won for Best Western Nonfiction-Contemporary.

Aryn Kyle's "The God of Animals" won for Best Western Long Novel.

Among other Texas-related nominees: Mike Kearby, was a finalist in the juveinille fiction category for "Ambush at Mustang Canyon," as was
Arturo O. Martinez for "Pedrito's World," which was published by Texas Tech University Press. Stephen L. Hardin was a finalist in the historical nonfiction category for "Texian Macabre: The Melancholy Tale of a Hanging in Early Houston."

Avery Johnson responds to reporters on Tuesday at the Barnes & Noble on Northwest Highway. The Dallas Mavericks coach signed copies of his new book, "Aspire Higher: Winning On and Off the Court with Determination, Discipline & Decisions." The co-author is Roy S. Johnson, the editor-in-chief of "Men's Fitness" magazine and writer of memoirs by Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson.
