The Western Writers of America recently announced their annual Spur Awards. Sandra Dallas's "Tallgrass" won for Best Western Short Novel. Robert M. Utley's Lone Star Lawmen: The Second Century of the Texas Rangers won for Best Western Nonfiction-Contemporary. Aryn Kyle's "The God of Animals" won for Best Western Long Novel.
