Author Stephenie Meyer has a huge teen following for her "Twilight Saga" vampire novels. She's hoping to win adult fans with The Host, which she'll sign 2 p.m. Saturday at Frisco's Centennial High School. Here's the catch: You have to buy the book at Barnes & Noble, Stonebriar Centre, to get tickets. The store is allocating 1,000 tickets, one ticket per book, one book per person. So everybody who wants a ticket must be present at time of purchase. It's available at 7 a.m. Tuesday. For details, call 972-668-2820.

Some cool news from the folks at Penguin Classics: They have launched a series of African-American classics curated by Henry Louis Gates. The first two titles, both hitting shelves May 27, are The Portable Charles W. Chesnutt; and God's Trombones, by James Weldon Johnson. Chesnutt is perhaps the most influential African-American writer of the post-bellum era. Johnson wrote the classic passing novel The Autobiography of an ex-Colored Man.

The last, the very last, so richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow. Perhaps if the sun's tears would sing against a white stone.

-"The Butterfly" by Pavel Friedman, who died in Auschwitz in 1944.

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day.
