As we wind down the coverage here, allow me to introduce you to a few of the people I met over the weekend. Or at least the ones who have already filed their stories about the Expo. As you probably have gathered, no single individual can cover every aspect of this event. A lot of note-comparing and friendly conversation goes on. I don't think any one of us would pass up a chance for a scoop should one arise, but with the number of newspapers willing to support robust books coverage shrinking regularly, perhaps we tend to seek safety in numbers. So here's a look at what they wrote:
John Mark Eberhart of The Kansas City Star somehow found time to shoot video, including this interview with Lewis Black. David L. Ulin is always gracious, and his team of bloggers covered their home turf admirably. Edward Nawotka (link coming soon), who also regularly reviews for The Dallas Morning News, knows the publishing industry inside and out, even if he doesn't always know the meaning of "admits one." (Thanks for trying, Ed.) Oh, and speaking of Prince: I didn't meet anybody from USA Today, but they managed to get into the party of the year (and wrote nicely about it, even.) Maybe next time, Mr. Prince. I know where you live. |
