Edgar Allan Poe fans will want to start making plans for an autumn visit to Austin. The Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas has announced an exhibit marking the 200th anniversary of the writer's birth (which is Jan. 19.) "From Out That Shadow: The Life and Legacy of Edgar Allan Poe," opens Sept. 8 and runs through Jan. 4, 2010. Items on display will include Poe's writing desk; letters by and about the author; manuscripts of The Raven and other works; and even a brooch containing his hair. How wonderfully creepy. I'm sure he would approve. E-mail entry: |

check on spelling on middle name.
Considering that typo happened right next to a snarky item about literacy in Dallas, I have ordered a double-flogging for the writer.
Thanks for noting; it has been fixed.
