The North Texas Book Festival presented its annual awards, which honor excellence in small press and self-publishing, earlier this month. Here's a list of the winners:


Adult Fiction Winner: Evacuation Plan by Joe M. O'Connell (Dalton Publishing).
Finalists: Brooklyn and Braden by Keri Diane Fry (RonJon Publishing),
Magnolia Moon, Texas Sage by Janice Rose (Rosewine Press).

Adult Non-Fiction Winner: From Guns to Gavels: How Justice Grew Up in the
Outlaw West
by Bill Neal (Texas Tech University Press).
Finalists: A Place to Be Someone: Growing Up with Charles Gordone by Shirley Gordon Jackson (Texas Tech University Press), One Day as a Lion: True Stories of the Vietnam War by Ronnie D. Foster (Entry Way Publishing).

Children's Book Winner: Birth of the Fifth Sun and Other Mesoamerican Tales by Jo Harper, ill. Irma Martinez Sizer (Texas Tech University Press).
