Oh, and let's not forget dear Abbie from Eugene O'Neill's "Desire Under the Elms." She marries a much older widower, begins an affair with her youngest stepson, bears his child and passes it off as her husband's, and then kills the baby because she's afraid it will become an obstacle to her adulterous affair. Nice.
